La Napoule
2003
In early 2003, I was awarded a two-month-long artist residency at the La Napoule Art Foundation . The Foundation is in an old castle in Mandelieu-La Napoule, about 15 minutes by train from Cannes.
Spending two months on the Cote D’azur just making art, connecting with other artists, writers , and composers, eating French food, drinking wine, mangling the language and traveling around the region was a completely over-the-top experience.
Well, not so different than life in West Oakland, but still.
The Chateau de La Napoule is the Foundation's main building. We didn't live here but we had keys to the castle so we could use it when we wanted.
