Maps provide us with the tools to navigate both physical and personal space. This artwork was designed to be collaborative and inclusive.

The complexity of what it takes to make the arts in Alameda County such a vital force is mind-boggling and inspiring. My challenge was to make a public piece that was both large-scale but portable, network-specific as well as universal. It needed to do service to the internal hard work and strategic, collaborative planning that take place across many Alameda community networks, but still engage viewers in a more personal way to think about their own relationships to the arts, regardless of what the might know about the Alameda County Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership.
