Asian Pacific Islander Club
Leadership High School
1999-2004
The API Club was Leadership High School’s most successful, organized group, holding bi-weekly meetings, hosting monthly food sales, putting on a yearly API talent show, having twice-yearly Iron Chef cookoffs at members homes, and putting on the annual Spring Luau dance.
Dan Yamamoto, Robert Faga, and Gia Truong variously co-advised this club over the years, not that any of us were needed. The students were amazingly focused, and incredibly enthusiastic without any adult advisor really being necessary. Having an art teacher around can come in handy around Luau time for sets and decorations, hand-made tropical flowers, photo-printing, and building the photo backdrop ourselves.
